30 Sites in LA

Wednesday, July 6, 2005, 12:27PM

insidersla_hdr.jpgIt was great to read this month's National Geographic Traveler, IMHO the best travel magazine available, which included a feature this month called "Insider's Los Angeles: 30 Reasons to Love the City of Angels". The article lists the author's 30 best things to do/sites to see in L.A. As someone who religiously reads 1000 Places to See Before You Die, it was good to get a more local list.

I saw that Franklin Avenue (which points out the huge omissions, like the Valley and Harbor) and blogging.la have blogged this as well. I have visited 28 out of 30 sites, missing only One Spa at Shutter's (never knew of it and not much of a spa person) and Adamson House in Malibu.

I'll get to work on the top 30 sites in Council District 13. What are your favorites in LA and CD13?

Eric:

I enjoy having you as a councilmember and hope you serve out your term. However, I keep hearing a rumor that you are running for the assembly. Is that true? If so, you have my vote.

Dude, we went to Jameson Ranch Camp way back in the day. I don't scan the web much but every once in a while I google someone's name from the past. Looks like your having fun.

Hi Mr. Garcetti and all the terrific team working with you. I am Alfredo J. Gonzalez. One day I was with Mrs. Sue Wolf to show you the project for a mural about the corn in the Pre-Columbian cultures, and you like it. At that moment you told me about a gallery in dowtown L. A. that it goes to be inaugurated soon ( I guess now is already working ), and you told that could be used for the group of artist I belong, which is: G. A. S. ( Group of Artists from El Salvador, in spanish acronyms ). We have several shows already and we are needing an space to show. Could you send me some information about this gallery?. Could be to my e-mail, and I'll show to my friends as soon as I get the information from you. In the information we need to know about times, spaces, rules of the gallery, to whom we have to contact, etc., etc.
I hope you and your working people are going to be so kind to send to us that valuable information to have a chance to shows our art pieces, we are going to appreciated a lot that favor. Without more, we are sending to you and all the people working so hard for our city, our more respecfully salute. Sincerely,
Alfredo J. Gonzalez,
Poet, writer, fine artist, member of G. A. S.

The Honorable Eric Garcetti
Dear Councilmember Garcetti Eric,

I have written to you to express my thoughts towards public education. I believe it is flawed. The reason for this particular thought is due to the fact the lack of education in our public schools. For example, teachers that are teaching a predominantly subject in school, may most likely be better off instructing the curriculum they are best suited for. It is just like a mathematician schooling in English. I also think it is ridiculous that students with a great amount of ignorance have advance classes while students with a high intellect than others have special education classes.
I suggest a proposal that will place teachers and students to their right environmental settings.

Sincerely,Natalie Masen

i understand that runners and walkers along silverlake bl will soon have a safe path behind
fencing to do their thing. Hope it is not too late for someone in the meanwhile.....
i traverse the blvd every evening on my way home
in the hills and with the fall darkness and the
lack of barrier protection i am fearing that soon
or if not already someone will be hit accidentally.
especially when a large number of walkers and joggers are moving along with the traffic..
totally oblivious to the cars heading towards them from behind.
please address the issue ASAP i am almost supportive in banning pedestrians on the blvd.
and i myself is a jogger.....
