In 2001, I went door-to-door in each of the neighborhoods of the Thirteenth District, asking you for the privilege of serving you on the City Council. I promised to fight for our neighborhoods—to bring back our fair share of parks, schools, police, and housing. Based on that promise, the voters elected me to represent them and I was sworn into office on June 15th, 2001. Since then, I cannot believe how far we have come. Our neighborhoods are safer, greener, and more vibrant than they have been in decades. More and more people are active in local government and community affairs and I have met with thousands of District 13 residents who are working together to clean up their neighborhoods. NEW OPPORTUNITIESWe have done so much
together, nearly doubling
the number of parks in our communities—helping build badly-needed
schools and housing, bringing good-paying
jobs back to our business
districts, and cleaning up our urban environment. But there is so much
more we have to do together. In this web site, you will find out information
about my record, my
agenda, and about the 13th District. We will have
opportunities for spreading the word about our initiatives and about
getting involved in the community. We will be regularly expanding and
updating the web site, so visit whenever you can. |

Thank you for the privilege of representing you! I will never take that privilege for granted. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you for another four years in the Los Angeles City Council. Warmest regards,
