Train
Neighborhood Leaders —
Councilmember Garcetti and his staff are training another five
hundred community leaders through his Neighborhood Leadership Institute,
Neighborhood Council Summit, and the City Government 101 Curriculum.
Walks, Coffees, Office Hours —
Councilmember Garcetti continues to hold his regular office
hours, community walks and neighborhood coffees to make himself directly
available and directly accountable to the people he serves.
Strengthen Neighborhood Councils —
Councilmember Garcetti favors giving Neighborhood Councils
expanded powers to decide where city money is spent on Public Works
projects in their neighborhoods. He is working to ensure that neighborhood
councils obtain better and more detailed information on planning matters.
Democratize the Political Process —
Councilmember Garcetti is working to make Los Angeles the first city
in the nation to have a Clean Money Campaign system, giving candidates
for office and the voters of Los Angeles a way of taking special interest
money out of politics.
